After months and years of speculation Ubisoft has finally confirmed they’re working on a new Splinter-Cellular, rather than an old one. To be fair, a remake of the original from 2002 is still the most obvious place to start in terms of reviving the series, even if it’s not necessarily anyone’s favourite entry. It was, though, a stealth game that was heavily influenced by Metal Gear Solid. So it will be interesting to see whether Ubisoft is trying to water that down for a good reason, as they did later in sequels....

A job advertisement for the role of multiplayer game designer on the Supermassives website (see below) mentions the company is currently working on a new, yet unapplied project. The original Gex was a 2D platformer, but it began when most platforming franchises had gotten out of 3D. With the huge popularity of Super Mario 64 in 1996, it’s not surprising that Gex became all a three-tiered player – Enter the Gecko. Unfortunately, The Gecko and Gex 3 did not get the same acclaim, which is not just the reason that the series was unable to fold. As of the past fifteen years, developers and publishers realized the fact that there are two and three versions of a single platformer, it would be interesting to see what a new Gex game might look like....
